Clinical Trials
Clinical observations on the trial results
Professor Bland reports upon those technologies using the dilution method either gave higher values (hypervolaemic/hyperdynamic) or in one case could not estimate low the cardiac output (hypovolaemic/hypodynamic) situation.
This unique clinical trial observed the performance of the three major technologies verses HeartSmart™ for estimating cardiac output/index on all the subjects partaking in this study.
The investigators have also made the same observations as Professor Bland during this study, noting the importance some of the results may have made on decisions concerning the patient's treatment.
HeartSmart™ and Doppler were able to track cardiac output in either direction. The mean difference between the Thermodilution method estimating Cardiac Output, for Doppler was 0.89 litres compared to HeartSmart™ of 0.32 litres per minute.
Doppler method gives limited haemodynamic data cardiac index estimates, whereas HeartSmart™ gives the anaesthetist ALL the haemodynamic variables, instantly, including the left heart mean pulmonary artery and occlusion (wedge) pressures.
HeartSmart's® most impressive performance is against right and left heart catheterisation on adults and children performed routinely by cardiologist. The mean pulmonary artery and pulmonary artery occlusion (wedge) pressures were obtained with accuracy of a few millimetres of mercury. Pulmonary artery catheterisation is not required for HeartSmart™ to perform in real time.
The Power of HeartSmart™ lays in it's SIMPLICITY of use and interpretation of the haemodynamic information being given.
The haemodynamic values delivered by HeartSmart™ are estimates based upon the hearts performance, as a reflection of the physiological parameters functions that are involved in auto - regulation of the heart.
Other technologies give out numbers based upon mathematical assumptions, monitoring is not continuous of ALL the haemodynamic variables and quite often may not reflect the TRUE physiological and or haemodynamic status of the patient.
HeartSmart™ assists you to make a more reliable haemodynamic assessment of the patient's clinical condition, putting the POWER BACK INTO YOUR HANDS improving your Art of Practicing Medicine.
